(The picture above was taken at our Midsummer Concert in Abbacy Church of Ireland Church in 2013. Eight of these lovely ladies are still Choir members today!)
The Peninsula Choir was established in Autumn 2010 as a young people's Choir (the Peninsula Youth Choir) and met in Cloughey. At the end of that (school) year, the Choir moved from Cloughey to Kircubbin, but most of the young people didn't follow...! Nothing daunted, the Choir carried out a major recruitment drive and relaunched as a women's Choir, who discovered how much they enjoyed choral singing. By the end of 2011, the Peninsula Choir, as it is today, was born.
Two of the mothers of our original choristers still sing with us today!
October 2021 marked our Tenth Anniversary. Although we were then still in Covid pandemic restrictions, our Leader Bee was determined that the occasion should not go unmarked! So she compiled a Chronicle of our first ten years - please click on the link below and enjoy!! 😄
